Run the Race in 2011
We are currently seeking a part-time conservative pastor to help with preaching (currently only Sunday AM), leadership and expositional teaching. If you would like to be considered for this position, please email us at info@albc-hsv.org.
In Ephesians 4:1-3, the apostle Paul writes,
" I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace ."
He is reminding us of our responsibility to live our lives in a manner that is consistent with what we profess to believe and highlights what that looks like. It requires humility and patience; it demands that we " forbear [show tolerance toward] one another in love"; we see there is a unity of the Spirit that we must preserve. So where do we find such attributes?
In Galatians 5:22-23, we learn that these and many other wonderful
qualities are the result of God's Spirit directing our lives. Paul writes that
" the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit ."
If I am walking in the Spirit, dealing with sin as it shows up in my life and yielding my self to God daily, then this fruit will be manifested in ever-increasing dimensions and power.
